Four Generations Trace Roots to Wheatland

Two sisters attended Wheatland Methodist as their “home away from home” for a combined 132 years. They love this church as it is steeped with their family history dating back to the late 1800s. Their grandfather, Albert A Rowe was a key leader in the construction of the current sanctuary involved in the architectural design as well as financially supporting the beautiful stain glass windows that adorn the historical sanctuary. Their Grandmother, Etta Rowe aka “Granny” and Aunt “Freen” (Floreen Kepke) were pillars in the Quilting Ladies Group. Both attended many Wednesdays with the Quilting Ladies and loved their homemade lunches and DESSERTS….

Hear more of Sharon Smith and Denyce Smith Inmon’s roots to Wheatland at the 170th anniversary celebration on October 22, 2017.

“Coach” Sharon Smith – For over 35 years, Sharon Smith — aka Coach — was a basketball, volleyball and track coach for the girls at Reed Junior High School in Duncanville. She was the FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) Huddle Leader for the longest running Junior High Girls Huddle at Reed and there is an annual award named in her honor for this accomplishment. Sharon has been a member of FUMC-Duncanville for her entire life.

Denyce Smith Inmon – Insurance underwriting and marketing has been Denyce’s career for the past 38 years. She has been married for 41 years to Cubba and together they have one daughter, Vanessa. Vanessa plans to wed at Wheatland United Methodist Church in February of 2018. Denyce’s passion includes her lifelong involvement at FUMC-Duncanville where she has served in many ways to include Chair of Staff Parish, Member of Board of Trustees, Fall Festival Chair for 5 years and currently is the Live Auction Chair for the 2017 Fall Festival.
